Your seizures could be unpredictable and some activities may be limited, but that doesnt
mean that you should stop doing things you love. Through understanding my seizure disorder, I
am able to help others lead a full life. I look forward to my future and hope you do too!

Patient Education and Outreach
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with epilepsy, you probably have a lot of unanswered questions.
Educating yourself and those around you about epilepsy/seizure disorder, how to cope with seizures in
everyday life and all of your treatment options is the best way for you and your family to adjust to a
diagnosis of epilepsy or seizure disorder.
The Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central Pennsylvania provides convenient and easy access to information
about epilepsy/seizure disorders and related issues. Our goal is to provide you with answers to as many
questions as possible, and with the information you need to cope with epilepsy and how it may be affecting
your life.
Patients, parents, family members and others can access information about epilepsy through the following
EFWCP services:
One-On-One Consultations
Individual consultations with our staff provide you and your family with an opportunity to discuss your unique
situation with someone who can help you to develop individualized strategies to address the areas of your life
where seizures may be causing a problem for you. These consultations can take place in person, via telephone or
even via e-mail correspondence. Personal contact in a face-to-face meeting or over the phone is recommended if
youre interested in consulting with one of our staff members. Contact the EFWCP office in your region for
more information. Click here for a list of our offices. For e-mail
addresses for all of the EFWCP staff, click here.
Local Education Events
Each year, the EFWCP plans and organizes a variety of community workshops and lectures. These events are held in
various communities throughout our 49 county service area. Held on a Saturday morning or during a weekday evening
session, these events bring experts from the medical, legal or social arena close to home so that you have a chance
to ask questions, learn more about a specific topic or hear a fresh perspective from a professional. Check our
on-line calendar of events for the current schedule of EFWCP events and
programs. Or, click here to request that your name
be added to our mailing list so that you receive announcements about education programs in your area.
Annual Patient/Family Conference
Initiated in 1996, our annual conference is held in a different region of our service territory each year. This event
is a one day opportunity for individuals and families to gather information and hear experts address a variety of
issues related to epilepsy. From senior citizens and seizures to pediatric epilepsy syndromes, legal rights,
new treatments and psychological aspects of epilepsy, the annual conference strives to bring you the most
up-to-date and useful information available on epilepsy.
Lending Library
People coping with epilepsy often need access to literature and information related to epilepsy that can be hard
to find. In order to help everyone better understand epilepsy and to share information with others, the EFWCP
maintains informational materials not found in physician offices, local libraries or local bookstores. These materials
can be viewed by visiting one of the EFWCP regional offices or by contacting us to request a book, video, article,
etc. These resources can be mailed out to you for your personal use and returned at your convenience. The
following link provides you with a list of movie, book and resource titles available via the
EFWCP Lending Library.
