The Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central Pennsylvania (EFWCP) has been awarded a grant sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline to host a one day symposium on Women and Epilepsy. One of only ten affiliates across the country to receive grant funding, the EFWCP's conference "Women and Epilepsy: Living Life Without Compromise" will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh. An interactive, educational and fun day, the conference will feature a health fair and keynote addresses from Denise L. Pease, Director of Commercial Banking for the Office of the New York City Comptroller, and Joyce Bender, CEO of Bender Consulting Services, Inc. Both women are members of the Epilepsy Foundation National Board of Directors and are women living with epilepsy. The day will also feature presentations on the impact of hormones on women with epilepsy and on reproductive health concerns. In addition, attendees can participate in panel discussions with medical experts and women living with epilepsy who are at various stages in life.
