EFWCP, Johnstown Chiefs, and Johnstown Rotary partner to educate students about safety and epilepsy
The EFWCP, the Johnstown Chiefs, and the Johnstown Rotary have teamed up to raise awareness of seizures, helmet safety and head injury prevention, and the benefits of exercise. The Chiefs and a representative from the EFWCP will visit Johnstown area schools to present information on seizures, basic first aid, and the importance of wearing helmets to prevent head injuries. The students will get to interact with their favorite Chiefs players while learning more about the importance of sports safety and getting regular exercise. Each student will receive a free child?s ticket with a purchase of an adult ticket to an upcoming Chiefs game. Thanks to the Johnstown Rotary club, the school will receive bike helmets that they can give to children in need in their district.
Head injuries are one of the known and preventable causes of epilepsy/seizure disorders. The EFWCP and the Johnstown Chiefs are committed to providing education and services related to the prevention of head injuries. Through the Project School Alert program, school staff, faculty and students receive valuable information regarding seizure recognition, first aid and injury prevention. If you are in the Johnstown area and would like a presentation like this at your school, please contact Mary at 814-262-7494
