You Are Invited to a Legislative Breakfast to Save Epilepsy Services!

May 27, 2009

Legislative Breakfast and Budget Meeting
Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central PA
DATE:
Wednesday, June 10th
TIME: 8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
LOCATION: East Wing Rotunda, State Capitol Harrisburg

We need your help now more than ever. In order to make this legislative breakfast and budget briefing a success, we need volunteers who are able and willing to attend the breakfast with us. AND, the best and only way to be sure that members of the House & Senate will stop by to learn more about the potentially devastating impact of the proposed elimination of state funding for epilepsy services is to have you, as their constituents, invite them to this event. If you can attend the event, we encourage you to call your legislators and invite them to be there. You will get to talk with them that morning and ask them for their support.

If you are planning to attend the breakfast event, please let us know by contacting Peggy Beem-Jelley at 1-800-361-5885 or at pbeem@efwp.org. With your help, we can and will save state funding for community epilepsy programs.

If you are not able to attend the June 10th Epilepsy Foundation legislative budget briefing and breakfast in Harrisburg, you can still help us by calling your state senators and representatives on that same day. The more our elected officials hear from us the better. Consider this fact. One member of the PA House of Representatives recently reported to us that for every one call he receives about epilepsy, he hears from 10 constituents about autism. REMEMBER, WE?VE BEEN SILENT TOO LONG!

Go to this website: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/index.cfm to look up your state legislators by name, zip code or the place where you live. Call the offices of your Representatives and Senators or send them an email asking them to support the restoration and continuation of state funding for epilepsy services in the 2009-2010 state budget. Here?s what we need - $600,000 in state funding statewide. AND, ask your legislators to communicate their support for epilepsy funding to the leaders in their party caucus and on the Appropriations Committees.

Thank you for your passionate voices on behalf of those affected by seizures.
