The Epilepsy Foundation, in conjunction with parents, the PA Department of Health, Bureau of Family Health and Special Kids Network are hosting a series of local meetings, led by parents, to talk with families raising children who are growing up with seizures and epilepsy and other community stakeholders. L.E.A.P. to Understanding is an opportunity for family members, nurses, physicians, school personnel, human service staff and others concerned about epilepsy to come together and share personal experiences and talk about the needs, gaps in services and their recommendations for improving services in Pennsylvania. A final report/strategic plan will be submitted to the PA Department of Health, the Epilepsy Foundation in Pennsylvania and HRSA (the US Health Resources and Services Administration).
Objectives for the meeting are:
· To deepen our connections as a community of parents of children with epilepsy and other community members concerned about the impact of epilepsy.
· To identify our community needs, existing services, and service gaps.
· To inspire action that would make a difference in our community
